Hogao Recipe | Receta Hogao

Hogao is a traditional Colombian sauce.

Hogao is used for many popular Colombian main dishes like Bandeja Paisa and as a dipping sauce for Colombian side dishes of Pátacones, Platanitos and Yuca frita.

It can also be used as a topping for arepas. Try this Hogao recipe and enjoy Colombia's most popular condiment.



Ingredients List:

  • 2 cups Chopped Tomatoes
  • 3 TBSP Olive Oil
  • 2 Cloves Garlic, Minced
  • 1 Cup Scallions, Chopped
  • 1 tsp Cumin
  • Salt & Pepper to Taste
  • Preparation:

    Heat the oil in a large skillet. Add the tomatoes, garlic, scallions and cumin. Cook over medium heat, until the vegetables are soft, about 10 minutes.

    Reduce the heat to low, season with salt and pepper and cook for 10 minutes more, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has thickened.

    Hogao can be stored for up to a week in the refrigerator.
